Pinging the VTCPD from the Host
In cases where ping messages are initiated by hosts, the messages have to be rerouted
to administrative lines (VTCPD option -a or -A) for processing and reply. If an
administrative application determines that a host link went down (for example, if there
is no traffic for a certain period of time), it can force the VTCPD to break the host
connection. This can be achieved by sending to the VTCPD an AMU-style command:
amu -s XXX -v YYY -c "request break ZZZ".
Here XXX, YYY and ZZZ are VTCPD port numbers (as specified by VTCPD -s
option), MPS number and connection number respectively. This command could be
sent from the application by execute-command call function.
Backup LAN
It is possible to have backup LAN connection between the MPS and host machines.
The VTCPD daemon will try to switch to this LAN if all host connections through the
primary LAN are lost. To specify the feature the use the command line option:
-L [#:]host:port
The host is the host machine name as it is known on the secondary network.
Parameters # and port have the same meaning as for -l option. Several -L options
can be used to specify different hosts/port numbers.
