To connect an external modem to the Passport 5430, you need an AT or Hayes

compatible modem and the RJ-45 to DB-9 cable and adapter kit

(Order No. AA0011026) that Nortel Networks provided with the Passport 5430.

To connect an external console modem:

Configure the modem, using the parameters in Table 4-3.

See the modem user guide for instructions.

Turn off the modem.

Route the cable through the cable loom slot corresponding to PCI slot 1.

Access Switch.

Insert the 8-pin receptacle end of the modem cable into the Passport 5430
