Deleting a File

Use the delete command to delete ﬁles that you specify. You can use the wildcard

characters

* and ? when issuing the delete command.

Enter the following to delete a ﬁle on the active volume:

delete

<ﬁlename>

Enter the following to delete a ﬁle on a different volume:

delete

<vol>

<ﬁlename>

<vol> is the slot number of the volume containing the ﬁle.

<ﬁlename> is the name of the ﬁle.

You can enter

del or delete when deleting a ﬁle.

Examples:

Caution: You cannot recover a ﬁle after it is deleted. The delete command

does not prompt you to verify a deletion.

If you enter: The system:

delete alt.cfg

Deletes the alt.cfg ﬁle on the active volume.

delete

2:l6_22.log

Deletes the l6_22.log ﬁle on Volume 2.

delete 3:*.log

Deletes all ﬁles with the log ﬁlename extension on

Volume 3.

delete

4:???.log

Deletes all ﬁles with a three-character ﬁlename and a log ﬁle-

name extension on Volume 4.
