The factory-default ﬁlenames are as follows:

ace.out The router software image for the FN, LN, CN, and ALN.

The system automatically refers to this binary ﬁle for booting

instructions unless you specify another router software image.

You cannot read or change this ﬁle. This ﬁle must have the

platform-speciﬁc ﬁlename of the .exe or .out boot ﬁle for the

system to boot successfully after a cold start. The

boot command

does, however, allow you to specify another software image.

afn.exe

bn.exe

The router software image for the AFN.

is the router software image for the BLN, BLN-2, and BCN.

The system automatically refers to this binary ﬁle for booting

instructions unless you specify another router software image.

You cannot read or change this ﬁle. This ﬁle must have the

platform-speciﬁc ﬁlename of the .exe boot ﬁle for the system to

boot successfully after a cold start. The

boot command does,

however, allow you to specify another software image.

afnboot.exe A copy of the combined bootstrap PROM and diagnostics PROM

image for an AFN router.

conﬁg

The default conﬁguration ﬁle. The system refers to this binary

ﬁle for conﬁguration data when booting. (However, you can

specify another conﬁguration ﬁle with the

boot command.) You

can change the conﬁguration by copying an alternative

conﬁguration ﬁle to conﬁg. Also, you can store alternative or

future conﬁgurations.

This ﬁle must have the conﬁg ﬁlename for the system to

conﬁgure automatically after booting. We recommend copying

conﬁg to a new backup filename before overwriting it.

debug.al An ASCII ﬁle containing aliases (commands that abbreviate long

or multiple commands) that you can use to debug common

network problems. (Refer to “Debugging with Predeﬁned

Aliases” in Chapter 9 to use the aliases in this ﬁle.)

frediag.exe A copy of the diagnostics image resident on the diagnostics

PROM of a BLN, BLN-2, or BCN router. You cannot read or

change this ﬁle.
