key A set of character that is pattern-matched to the data stored in file
records. Records in both hashed and indexed files can be located by a
key.
See also hashed, indexed.
key-ahead The touchtone input processing feature that allows the caller to enter
touchtones during speech output of the voice script. The caller may
enter a response as soon as he or she recognizes a prompt – it is
unnecessary to wait for the message to complete. When the MPS
detects a touchtone during speech output, the prompt ceases and the
Avaya MPS begins collecting touchtone input.
Each application can enable/disable key-ahead as appropriate.
Also known as type-ahead and DTMF cut-through.
For additional information, see the Avaya MPS System Reference
Manual.
See also DTMF, touchtone.

Manual.
