Glossary of Avaya MPS Series Terminology resource intermediate timer
Page 96 # P0602812 Ver: 1.3
resource intermediate
timer
A resource response timer. The resource intermediate timer specifies
a time interval. When this interval elapses, the system speaks the
intermediate timeout message to the caller. The intention is to notify
the caller that information requested from a resource is unavailable,
because the resource has not yet responded to the query. Applications
do not have to speak this message—the VOS software speaks it
automatically when the resource intermediate timer expires.
If the resource does not respond within the resource intermediate
interval, VENGINE generates intertimeout. The resource
intermediate interval must be shorter than the resource error interval.
The resource error interval is determined by the rscintime
environment variable. This timer is disabled by default.
For additional information, see Avaya MPS PeriProducer User’s
Guide, and the intertimeout condition man page.
Contrast with host intermediate timer.

resource highway A multichannel voice/data path between the phone line card and
shared resources. All Avaya MPS systems have 4 internal highways,
called CX, CR (C-pair) and DX, DR (D-pair). Each highway has 32
channels. Digital systems only use 1 span of channels in each
highway.
Also known as highway.
For additional information, see the Avaya MPS System Reference
Manual.

shared resources, span, channel, digital.
RLT Release Link Trunk. An ISDN feature that uses a DMS-250 switch
to bridge a call, rather than maintaining the bridge on the Avaya MPS.
For additional information, see the Avaya MPS Application
Programming Reference Manual.
round robin See non-sequential access.
