Running Port Tests

Port tests affect a logical line associated with a port.

Table 9-9

describes the BERT test commands you can send on an FE1 port.

In line loopback, the signal does not go through the framing device.

To run FE1 port tests, complete the following tasks.

Table 9-9. Send Commands for FE1 Port Tests

Send Command Function

Reset BERT Counters Resets all counters to 0

Insert 1 Error Inserts a single (nonrepeating) error into the bit stream

Insert 1 Error/1K Inserts a deliberate error into every thousandth position in the

bit stream

Insert 1 Error/1M Inserts a deliberate error into every millionth position in the bit

stream

Disable Insert Error Stops the insertion of deliberate errors into the bit stream

Caution:

Wait for the window to update before selecting another command.

2. Click on

3. To start a test, click on the appropriate

command.

4. Repeat step 3 for each test you want to

run.
